Groovy Girl: From Fuzzy Foal to Ranch Royalty

Groovy Girl: From Fuzzy Foal to Ranch Royalty

Every now and then, a horse arrives who doesn’t just find a home with us—they become part of the soul of the place. That’s Groovy.

Groovy came to us as a fuzzy little red roan baby—legs too long for her body, coat like a shaggy teddy bear, and an attitude that said, “I’m cute and I know it.” She was young, unsure of the world, and had never known real stability. But even then, there was a spark in her. A quiet confidence. A “just you wait” kind of look in her eye.

And wait we did.

Fast forward to now, and Groovy has blossomed into a stunning ranch horse queen. Her once-wild baby fluff is now a sleek, red roan coat that glows in the sunlight like burnished copper. Her muscles are strong, her stride smooth, and her gaze? Still as soulful and self-assured as ever—maybe even more so.

Groovy is what we call a lifer. She’s not going anywhere—and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. This place is her forever home, and in many ways, she’s become the heart of our herd. She knows every corner of the ranch, every rhythm of the day, and every person who walks through our gates.

She’s a calming presence for the new horses, a teacher for the younger ones, and an unintentional Instagram model for us (because, seriously, have you seen her in golden hour light?).

She has a grace about her, a quiet wisdom that reminds us what we’re here for. That rescue isn’t just about recovery—it’s about transformation. It’s about giving horses not just a second chance, but a whole life full of love, purpose, and peace.
