Tig the Tenacious: From Troubled to Thriving

Every rescue horse has a story—but Tig? Tig is a special one. 

When Tig arrived at our rescue, his coat was dull, his hooves overgrown, and there was a flicker in his eyes that said, “Don’t come too close.” He had been let down by humans before—and trust, once broken, takes time to rebuild.

But underneath that tough exterior, there was a spark. A little defiant glimmer in his eyes that told us: “I’m not done yet.”

So we met Tig where he was. Not with ropes or rules, but with routine, respect, and ridiculous amounts of love. Slowly, Tig began to unfold. He started small—coming up for a sniff, then a nuzzle, then standing quietly as someone brushed the dust from his back. And before we knew it, he was strutting out of his stall like he owned the place.

Tig is a classic “glow-up” story. He’s sleek, shiny, and confidently sassy. He greets visitors with curiosity now instead of caution, and we often catch him watching the other horses like he’s making sure everyone is following his rules.

He’s living proof that second chances work—that with time, love, and a soft place to land, even the most guarded hearts can learn to trust again.
